Glenallachie 22 Year Old 1996 (Cask #5271) - Signatory Cask Strength
70 cl, 54.9%

A beauty of a vintage Glenallachie from Signatory Vintage’s Cask Strength range.

Those of you who follow the whisky news will know that this distillery was recently purchased by Billy Walker (of Glendronach fame) who usually has an eye for a good spirit!

Historically, Glenallachie has not seen a huge number of single malt releases. The Speyside distillery was founded during the 1960s whisky boom, and produces a fruity, malty new make. Previous owners Chivas used it heavily in their blends.

This particular bottling has been aged in a single hogshead (cask number 5271) for 22 years, having been distilled on the 17th of October 1996, and bottled on the 15th of February 2019.

Drinkers can expect flavours of dark chocolate, apples, pears, hay, flowers, crisp malt, a touch of orange rind, toasted nuts, vanilla, herbs, toffee, marzipan and slight cinnamon-chilli heat.

Bottled at 54.9% ABV, without chill filtration or colouration, this whisky offers a fully natural experience.

Just 291 bottles were produced.
