Another addition to Edradour’s fabulous Straight From The Cask range (STFC). This time round the bottling has taken Edradour’s super peaty spirit, Ballechin, which has been matured for 11 years.
The whisky has sat in a single Bordeaux wine cask (number 397) for 11 years, having been distilled on the 13th of December 2005 and bottled on the 18th July 2017. This maturation has created a rich and flavoursome spirit which has a distinctive rosy hue. Drinkers should expect notes of bright red fruit, sweet wine, grapes, dense oak and spices, with some heavy vanilla note. These pair excellently with Ballechin’s natural peaty punch, with superb balance between the cask influence and the spirit.
The whisky is bottled at an intense strength of 55.6% ABV, and bottled without either chill filtration or artificial colouration, meaning that the spirit is as close as possible to “Straight From The Cask”. Just 413 bottles were produced from this single Bordeaux cask, meaning that stocks are highly limited. Each bottle comes with its own, boldly coloured, wooden crate.
