Another excellent addition to Edradour’s highly rated Straight From The Cask range. Ballechin is Edradour’s heavily peated whisky brand, which has been in production since 2003, and uses barley which is peated to no less than 50ppm. This particularly bottling is a simply incredible 11 year old drawn from a single Bordeaux Cask. Distilled on the 7th of December 2005, and bottled on the 2nd of March 2017, the whisky lay in the wine cask for the whole of its maturation. This produced a spirit of incredible complexity, rich in notes of red grape, barbequed plums and fresh berries. The combination of peat smoke and wine sweetness is stunning. It is bottled at a natural cask strength of 55.7% ABV, and without either colouration or chill filtration, as close as one can get to Straight From The Cask without visiting the distillery. Just 407 bottles of this whisky were produced, meaning that stock is highly limited. The whisky is presented in a decanter style bottle with a bold colour scheme, reflecting rosy colour of the spirit within. This bottle comes with a neat, blue-stained wood presentation box, making it a great option for gifts. Please note this is a 500ml bottle.
