A fruity, smoky addition to Edradour’s excellent Straight From The Cask series (with Ballechine the name of the Highland distillery’s peated range).
The combination of fruity port and smoky peat is one of the most pleasing in the scotch whisky world, and this is a perfect demonstration of the style.
Aged in a single port cask for 13 years, this whisky has been given enough time to get fully to grips with the port character, whilst this age has also tamed the peat fire a touch.
This Ballechin bottling offers flavours of rich, jammy fruit – strawberries, red grapes, raspberries and cherries – toffee, sweet peat smoke, cigar smoke, charred oak and wine tannins.
Bottled at a bold cask strength of 54.2% ABV, and without chill filtration or colouration, this is a whisky that lives up to the “Straight From The Cask” name.
Packaged in a lovely blue box and with bold pink labelling, this would make a great gift for any whisky lover.
Only 408 bottles were produced.
