Another lovely cask finished dram from Irish distillers, West Cork.
West Cork was only founded in 2003, but has quickly gained a good reputation for their high quality bottlings. This is one such offering, an Irish Single Malt whiskey which was aged initially in first fill Bourbon casks, before a finishing period in Quinta Da Boeira port casks.
The result is a dram that serves up notes of caramelised malt, vanilla, nutmeg, toffee, dark chocolate, stewed plums, sultanas, cloves, and citrus rind.
This whiskey is bottled at 43% ABV, and without chill filtration or colouration. This ensures a richly flavoured, medium-bodied whiskey.
