Another great whiskey from West Cork Distillers. This is their take on an iconic style: the Irish blended whiskey. This is a blend of grain and malt Irish whiskeys, aged in first fill former Bourbon barrels with a heavy char, which impart a delightful light sweetness and a touch of smoke. On the nose, this whiskey is smooth, sweet and grassy, with aromas of vanilla, citrus, honey nougat, and a faint wisp of passing barrel char. The palate is bright, with a chewy mouthfeel and plenty of body. Here the maltier notes take hold, with a little lemon rind, vanilla, caramel, chocolate fudge and sharp cereal sweetness. The finish returns the barrel char smoke of the nose, with a building, lasting citrus note. A fabulous offering from West Cork, a real value for money dram that Irish whiskey fans will love.
