A high quality grappa from Villa de Varda distillery, located in Mezzolombardo, near Trento in Northern Italy.
The area is recognised as “the best vine gardens in Europe” for its unique microclimate, fertile soil, clean air and plentiful sun.
This grappa has been made with grape pomace of Teroldego, Pinot Bianco and Müller Thurgau grapes from nearby vineyards. The pomace is selected when still fresh and dripping with wine – no stem is included in the distillation. During fermentation, Villa de Varda avoid all contact with air and use carefully selected yeasts.
After distillation in discontinuous copper stills, the spirit has been aged for 15 years, a generous maturation for a grappa, in former Amarone wine barrels.
The result is a delectable and complex grappa, with powerful oak flavours of spice, dried fruit, vanilla and caramel, accompanied by bright grape notes, a slight acidity, flowers, peppery spice and some tobacco smoke.
Each bottle comes with a handsome wooden presentation box, with gold accents.
