Rum Malecon produce a wonderful Panamanian rum, using some of the best quality cane found anywhere in the world. They base their rums on ancient Cuban recipes and distilling expertise. This rum has been aged for 15 years in recharred former Bourbon barrels, creating a delectable spirit of superb complexity and richness. This rum is a little drier than many of its fellows, a nice change of pace from the super-sweet rums on the market today. On the nose Rum Malecon 15 Year Old brings aromas of overripe banans, cigar smoke, citrus rind, almonds and toffee. The palate is quite thick and buttery, coating the mouth well, whilst offering warming oaky flavours of vanilla, toffee and caramel. Some tropical fruit notes of mango and pineapple round out the palate with a little barrel char and chocolate. The finish is medium in length, with milk chocolate and espresso. A wonderful rum, and perfect for pairing with a cigar, if that’s your thing!
