Bunnahabhain might be known for being one of less peaty malts on the Isle of Islay, but that doesn’t mean they are a one trick pony, producing a fabulously flavoursome peated single malt named “Moine”. Moine translates from Scots Gaelic to Moor or Bog, reflective of the darkly flavoured spirit.

This particular bottling is a real beauty, bottled by the stellar Ultimate Whisky Company. This whisky was distilled on the 24th of January 2007 and bottled on the 15th of April 2016, having aged 9 years in a refill butt (number 135). Drinkers should expect rich flavours of peat, dried apricot, slight vanilla oak and rich, chocolaty malt. As always with this range, this is a non chill filtered and naturally coloured malt whisky, with the spirit’s natural qualities shining through.

A delicious Islay malt, and a delightfully different Bunnahabhain, that packs in punch with a strength of 46% ABV. This is a single cask release, with just 339 bottles available worldwide, so drinkers should move fast if they want to catch this unique dram.
