One of a series of releases for travel retail, this well aged Bowmore has been matured in ex-Bourbon casks.
The whisky takes its name from the beaches of Laggan Bay and Big Strand that are found close to the distillery. The bottling is Master Distiller Eddie MacAffer’s personal favourite from the range.
This whisky matured in the No. 1 Vaults, said to be the oldest maturation warehouse still operating in Scotland. The cool environment is perfect for the slow aging of single malts. 17 years is a very respectable age for a whisky, and has produced a complex spirit, with a warmer, milder peat, with plenty of American oak flavours of toffee, vanilla, tropical fruit, wood spice and cream.
Bottled at 43% ABV, this boost in proof gives the spirit a little more texture and intensity.
A lovely, slightly older Bowmore. Great value for money considering the age statement.
