A rather fascinating rum from Martinique based distillery Rhum J.M, which surely holds the unique distinction of being the only rum found on an active volcano.
This bottling is a “Multimillésime”, a multi-vintage offering, containing vintage rums from 2002, 2007 and 2009. The 2002 vintage was finished for its last two years in French oak barrels. The blend of mature and youthful spirits ensures a well balanced rum with excellent body and depth.
Rhum J.M produce rhum Agricole, a distinctive style mostly made in former French colonies (and current overseas departments), in which the fermented juice of the sugar cane is used. This typically creates a more fragrant and delicate style of spirit.
The final result is a multi-vintage offering that delivers flavours of sweet bright cane, lime rind, oaky spice, mangos, mocha coffee, bananas, pineapple, vanilla, apples, milk chocolate and gentle sweet oak.
Bottled at 42.3% ABV for a touch more intensity, this is an excellent rum which perfectly showcases the harmony between three good quality vintages.
