A wonderful rum produced by the Industrias Licoreras de Guatemala, the same folk behind Ron Zacapa and Ron Botran. This rum is produced in the same fashion, with a solera system and maturation in the Guatemalan mountains, at an altitude of 2,300 metres. This means the warehouse is a little cooler than many others, meaning the rum can mature for longer without becoming overoaked. In this case, this is a blend of rums, some of which is at least 15 years old. This rum offers wonderful soft vanilla, caramel and cinnamon aromas on the nose. The palate is rich in exotic fruit, coconut, pineapple and plums, with a little brown sugar, coffee and dark chocolate. The finish is long, with toffee, dark chocolate and tobacco smoke. Ron Malteco 15 was awarded 8 out of 10 points in the Eye of Spirits competition.
