A marvelous 25 year old rum from Ron Malteco. This rum is produced by the Industrias Licoreras de Guatemala, the same folk behind quality rums like Ron Zacapa and Botran. This rum is produced from the highest quality molasses possible, known as “virgin cane honey”. This rum has been matured in ex-Bourbon casks, in Ron Malteco’s mountain warehouses, which sit at 2,300 metres in altitude. This results in incredible complexity after long aging. On the nose this rum has amazing aromas of coconut, dark oak, treacle, ripe bananas, toffee and burnt sugar. The palate is exceptionally thick, with a buttery, warming mouthfeel. Flavours of tropical fruit, coconut, almonds, vanill and dried apricots wash over the drinker’s palate. The finish is everlasting, with glorious tropical notes accompanied by a hint of coffee. A fantastic long aged rum, which demonstrates how good rum can be.
