Another top notch rum from the Central American nation of Guatemala. Produced by Industrias Licoreras de Guatemala, the same folk behind Botran and Ron Zacapa, this rum is said to be produced very similarly to its more illustrious cousins, with a solera system and from “virgin sugar cane honey”. The ten year age statement should then be taken with a pinch of salt, as this is likely solera matured and Guatemalan rum regulation is quite loose. On the nose this rum brings aromas of syrup, oak, vanilla, bananas, and figs. The palate is light and buttery, with toffee, almonds, vanilla custard, sweet juicy cane, citrus rind and powdered sugar flavours. The finish is short and sweet, with a little lingering peppery spice. A wonderful rum that is great for a short sweet sipper, or for mixing in cocktails.
