An interesting and exciting limited edition whiskey from Kilbeggan distillery.

This dram is includes malted and unmalted barley in the traditional Irish fashion, but fascinatingly, also includes a parcel of 30% rye grain. The spirit has been double distilled in copper pot stills, including one that dates back to the early 19th century and that is the oldest pot still that continues to operate in the world.

A landmark whiskey for Kilbeggan, this is the first whiskey to be distilled and completely matured at the original site in County Westmeath since its closure in 1957 and reopening in 2007. Kilbeggan is the oldest licenced distillery in Ireland, having been founded way back in 1757.

The result is a dram that serves up plenty of creamy and spicy flavours. Drinkers can expect notes of warm biscuits, oat porridge, fresh bread, ginger, allspice, apple, grassy malt, cinnamon, rye bread, herbs, pears, peppery spice, root beer and light, bright oak.

Bottled at 43% ABV for a little more body and warmth, this is a wonderful return to form from this ancient old distillery.
