Kavalan Solist series of single cask whiskies has a habit of serving up some delicious drams, and this is one of them.
A 2008 vintage, this whisky has been aged for 9 years in a single sherry cask before being bottled in November 2017.
The bottling has a remarkable ruby red colour which is testament to the power and influence of this cask (the whisky has no colouring added).
This dram offers up notes of dark cherry cola, dried fruits, charred malt, jammy red berries, juicy apple, intense cinnamon, nutmeg and pepper spice, alongside an undercurrent of dried flowers and wood shavings.
A really enjoyable and intensely sherried whisky. At 58.6%, this whisky has plenty of power and body.
