An interesting releases from Jura distillery.
Part of a two bottle series, Time (and its accompanying bottling, Tide) celebrates the provenance of the island distillery. Time has been released in small batches, with each new bottling including the year, illustrating the subtle differences from batch to batch.
This well matured offering has been aged in former Bourbon barrels, before a finish in casks that previously held peated malt whisky.
The result is a dram rich in notes of grassy malt, citrus rind, oily nuts, old oak, cinnamon, toffee, apples, gentle tropical fruit, and a slight note of sea spray and peat smoke.
Bottled at 46.7% ABV and without chill filtration, this is a thickly textured and powerful whisky.
