A very special whisky indeed! This Jura offering was bottled for the 60th Anniversary of La Maison du Whisky, one of the finest spirits shops in Europe.
La Maison du Whisky was founded by Georges Bénitah in 1956, on Rue d’Anjou, in Paris. Famous for being one of the first shops to recognise the value of Japanese whisky, La Maison du Whisky has often been at the cutting edge of the spirits business.
The whisky itself is befitting of such an occasion – a 1975 dram from the Isle of Jura distillery, which has been matured in a single Tawny port pipe for over 40 years.
The bottling offers up a dizzying array of flavours and aromas, including blood orange juice, dark chocolate, fresh hyacinths, saffron, nutmeg, passion fruit, mango, red berries, blackcurrant juice, salted caramel, tobacco smoke, figs, prunes, plums, almond, pecan, leather and rich, hearty peat smoke.
Bottled at a robust cask strength of 51.7% ABV, without chill filtration or colouration, this a fully natural and delicious whisky bursting with flavour and body.
Just 784 bottles of this exceeding rare dram were released, each coming with a commemorative box. A fitting tribute to a modern icon of whisky.
