Another arresting offering from the Highland Park design team
Highland Park Fire forms part of their Norse themed line up. The bottling pays tribute to Muspelheim, the fiery underworld of Norse legend. Legend has it that the sons of this region will have a key role to play in Ragnarök, the Norse apocalypse.
An unusual bottling for Highland Park, in that it has been aged in refill port casks for its 15 year maturation. Port cask imparts a red hue to whisky, a perfect choice for this hellish dram.
The final result is a subtly smoky whisky, with gentle red berry flavours (redcurrants and raspberries particularly), orange rind, boiled sweets, caramel, peated fudge, sea salt, cherry, a little cinnamon spice, slight dill and a touch of gentle smoky mint.
Bottled at 45.2% ABV, the whisky is presented in a volcano shaped cradle. The brother bottling to Highland Park’s Ice.
