Glendalough 7 Year Old Porter Cask Finish
70 cl, 46%

A delicious Irish Single Malt finished in Irish Porter Casks.

Ireland is world famous for its stout production, with Dublin perhaps the centre of the stout and porter world – no doubt a certain black beer springs to mind immediately. As such, there are plenty of quality casks for Glendalough to use when producing their delicious single malt.

This time round they’ve plumped for barrels from 5 Lamps Brewery, found in Dublin.

The whiskey itself has been made with roasted chocolate malt barley (something that Glenmorangie has done with its Signet bottling) and aged in former Bourbon barrels for 6 years, before a year’s finishing in the porter casks.

The whiskey is aged for 7 years to honour the figure on the label, St. Kevin. St. Kevin spent 7 years travelling the wilderness as a nomad, and also established 7 churches around Glendalough, County Wicklow.

The result is a chocolaty, rich and fruity whiskey, with notes of toasted oak, milky coffee, caramel, cloves, cinnamon, vanilla custard, apple pie, blackberries and dark malt.

Bottled at 46% ABV and without colouration, this is another showing of Glendalough’s excellent whiskey-making credentials.
