A high quality bottling of Fettercairn, forming part of Càrn Mòr’s Celebration of the Cask range, which tends to present single cask whiskies at a greater age.
This whisky was distilled at Fettercairn, a rather underrated Highland distillery that produces an old fashioned, nutty single malt.
A 2000 vintage, the spirit has been left to mature for 18 years in a single Bourbon barrel. The result is somewhat weighty and buttery single malt.
The bottling serves up notes of oily walnut and toffee cake, dried apples and candied pineapple, flambeed banana, milk chocolate, gristy malt, brown sugar, buttered corn and a touch of bright, charred oak.
Bottled at a hefty cask strength of 51.9% ABV and without chill filtration or colouration, this is a satisfying whisky, packed with flavour.
