Another bottling, or should we say, decantering, in this popular, handsome series from Edradour.
A well sherried dram, this whisky aged for 12 years in a single sherry butt, having been distilled on the 13th of February 2008 and bottled on 19th of the same month in 2020.
The result is a pure sherry bomb, offering up oodles of rich dried fruits, plums, cherries, brandied figs, caramelised orange peel, some oily nuts, dark oak, light leather, dark chocolate, toffee’d malt, cinnamon, vanilla and cloves.
Bottled at an aggressive cask strength of 58.7% ABV and without chill filtration or colouration, this is a wonderfully natural whisky.
Only 684 bottles were produced.
Cracking sherried dram from Edradour that packs a punch and makes my 20 year old Glendronach Singe Cask seem outright boring. Drop or 2 of water brings out even more richness of dark fruits and Christmas cake. Save this one for a cold winter night, or enjoy like I did inside on a scorching July afternoon. Grab one before they're gone...
