Rhum Clément is widely regarded as one of the best producing distilleries in the rum industry. Rhum Clément produces a traditional former-French colony style called Rhum Agricole, which is produced from the pressed juice of the sugar cane, as opposed to from sugar production by-products. These must adhere to the strict Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée (or AOC) rules, that ensure that all rum is made to a certain standard. This sort of regulation is quite uncommon in rum production, and therefore those seeking a quality sugar spirit often seek out the Rhum Agricoles.
This particular Rhum Agricole is very interesting indeed, it being the world’s first single varietal rum! It is made strictly using only blue sugar cane, known for being some of the highest quality cane available. The resulting rum captures the very essence of Agricole, being rich in flavour, yet fresh and grassy, with a distinctive vanilla flavour. This is aided by the slightly higher proof of 50% ABV. Quite frankly, this is ridiculously good value for one of the highest quality white rums on the market.
