A well aged Caol Ila from Gordon and MacPhail’s Connoisseurs Choice range.

A 2001 vintage, bottled on the 3rd of February 2020, this dram was matured in a First Fill Bourbon barrel for fully 18 years. A lengthy maturation in this aggressive style of cask has produced a whisky of remarkable intensity.

This dram serves up notes of hot grassy peat, chilli powder, thick vanilla and bright oak, apples, some burnt additional oak, some smoked meat, salted caramel, peanuts, charred pineapple, bananas, sea spray and citrus rind.

The spirit is presented at 57.2% ABV and free from both chill filtration and artificial colouration, ensuring a full bodied, fully flavoured dram.

Only 204 bottles were produced.
