The entry level bottling from Islay’s biggest distillery. Over 90% of the spirit produced at this distillery goes into blends, providing the smoky element for bottlings such as Johnnie Walker Black Label, with the remainder being bottled as a malt whisky.
A delicious 12 year old dram with a medium peating level and a buttery palate. A wonderfully phenolic and chewy whisky, drinkers should expect notes of smoky fudge, oily maritime notes, nuts, apples, sea spray, vanilla and sharp, precise peat.
Just a good, honest and excellently made whisky. Balance here is terrific throughout. One that every peat-lover simply has to try.
