A superb, smoky whisky from Gordon and MacPhail’s Connoisseurs Choice range, which was given a contemporary new rebrand in 2018.

This delicious peated dram from Caol Ila features an excellent provenance of cask, having been finished in Hermitage red wine casks. This tiny AOC is known for producing some of the finest Syrah red wines in the world. Prior to its wine cask finish, the whisky was aged in first fill and refill Bourbon casks for 13 years.

The result is a delectable dram which serves up notes of smoked pork, grassy peat, ash, raspberry, cherries, plums, prunes, red wine, grapes, cinnamon, vanilla, oak, orange rind, lemon, white pepper spice and a little faint chilli.

The dram benefits from being bottled at the higher proof of 45% ABV.

Just 3,708 bottles were released worldwide.
