The MacPhail’s Collection is known for being an affordable, quality way to taste the excellent wares of this venerable old bottlers.
This bottling contains single malt whisky from Bunnahabhain, an Islay distillery known for producing mostly unpeated spirit (very much bucking the local trend for smoky whisky)! This is a 2006 vintage bottled in 2016 at around 10 years of age.
The whisky serves up notes of sultanas, citrus rind, malt, vanilla, cream, almond, biscuits and toffee, with some slight cumin and pepper spice. The overall impression is something close to a malty key-lime pie.
Bottled at 43% ABV, this is an easy drinking offering from the Islay distillery.
