Bowmore 23 Year Old 1989 Port Cask Matured
70 cl, 50.8%

One of the most striking bottlings we’ve ever seen from the old Islay distillery Bowmore.

This whisky has, rather astonishingly, been aged for 23 years, entirely in former Port casks. As such the whisky can be seen as something akin to the big brother of the famous sherry and wine cask aged Devil’s Cask releases.

The result is a whisky of a rare complexity and depth, packed with sweet, fruity flavours alongside the traditionally floral peat of Bowmore’s spirit. The dram delivers notes of drying cranberry sweetness, alongside a soft, fragrant peat, charcoal, barbecued stone fruit, dark chocolate, pepper spice, ginger, honey, citrus rind, violet, sweet red wine, old oak, slight salt and a touch of cooked meat.

An intensely flavoursome whisky, bottled at a hefty cask strength of 50.8% ABV, without chill filtration or artificial colouration, this is a dram that retains full mouthfeel and taste.

This bottling was limited to less than 12,000 bottles worldwide.

A delectable dram that proves that long aging is possible in Port casks. Beautifully presented in a red box which highlights the natural colours of this whisky.
