A superb single barrel Ballechin from Dutch bottlers, The Ultimate Whisky Company.
This bottling was distilled at Edradour – Ballechin is the name they give to their peated spirit, taken from a now closed local distillery which operated until 1927.
This whisky has been aged for 12 years in a single Sauternes Hogshead (number 336), resulting in a dram of spectacular depth and character. The combination of Sauternes sweetness and peaty smoke is a glorious one.
The whisky offers up notes of rich, heady peat, charcoal, sweet grapes, vanilla, flowers, dessert wine, toffee, smoked white peaches, chilli spice, burnt malt, pepper, tinned pineapples, apricots and white chocolate.
Bottled at a very robust 56.7% ABV, and without chill filtration or colouration, this is a Ballechin full in body, flavour and intensity.
Just 284 bottles were released.
