Balllechin is the name given to Edradour’s heavy peated spirit. This particular offering has been bottled by Dutch bottlers, the Ultimate Whisky Company.
The spirit has been aged in a second fill sherry butt for just short of 12 years, having been distilled on the 18th of April 2007, and bottled on the 4th of April 2019.
The final product serves up notes of dried fruits, toffee, thick earthy peat smoke, plums, dark chocolate, dark oak, oily nuts, caramelised apple, slight coffee, chilli spice, black pepper, burnt malt, leather, and overripe bananas. Despite being second fill, the sherry butt is very active here.
An intense, spicy and peaty whisky, bottled at an aggressive cask strength of 58.8% ABV and without chill filtration or colouration.
Just 695 bottles were produced.
