Longtime customers will know that there are few things we like more than a Port cask dram, and this is an excellent example. A single malt from the English Lakes Distillery, that has been finished in Colheita Port casks.

This whisky forms part of the distillery’s Whiskymaker’s Editions range, which contains one off releases showcasing the Lakes spirit in conversation with different cask varieties.

“Colheita” is a Tawny Port made using a single vintage, then matured for at least 7 years in oak barrels. The Lakes Distillery, which is located just across the border from the Scottish lowlands in Cumbria, first matured this dram in Bourbon barrels, before finishing it for a time in Colheita casks.

The final product is a rich, fruity dram with notes of cherries, plums, candied citrus peel, cinnamon, dark chocolate, oak, nutmeg, raspberries, figs, Port wine sweetness and vanilla.

Bottled at 52% ABV, this is a big, juicy dram with tonnes of Port influence.
