A delightfully delicious whiskey from the fine folk over at Teeling distillery.
This small batch Irish offering comprises of a blend of grain and malt spirit, initially aged in ex-Bourbon barrels for 6 years, before a finishing period in none other than former pineapple rum casks for 15 months. And this is not just any pineapple rum, but the venerable Plantation company’s Stiggin’s Fancy expression – a recreation of the historic pineapple rums of the 19th century. This bottling has been regarded as the best pineapple rum on the market.
The end product is a luscious, fruity whiskey, with notes of ripe pineapple, green pineapple rind, orange rind, bananas, toffee, grassy malt, savoury charred fruits, strawberry, light oak and black peppered.
Bottled at a warming 49.2% ABV and without chill filtration or colouration, this is a surprising, and beautifully delicious Irish whiskey.
