A fine single cask bottling of Teaninich from stalwart indie bottler, Gordon & MacPhail. This bottling was originally an exclusive for the Dutch market.
Teaninich is a perhaps overlooked distillery, and is one of the work-horses of the Diageo stable. The distillery is known for being one of very few, not to have a mash tun – instead the distillery uses a hammer miller and mash filtered, which removes the need for a mash tun.
This 2009 vintage has aged in a refill Sherry butt until 2021, having been bottled at 12 years old.
The dram serves up notes of citrus rind, some subtle dried fruits, orange juice, dark cocoa powder, pepper, strawberries, cinnamon, ginger, toffee and a little aromatic oak.
The whisky is bottled at a powerful cask strength of 57.9% ABV, with only 693 bottles produced.
