A marvellous and extremely well aged single harvest Tawny port from Taylor’s.
Taylor’s collection of very old cask aged Port wine is the envy of much of the Port-producing industry. The brand’s Single Harvest Ports are the product of a single year, which have been aged entirely in seasoned oak casks. In total, this wine aged for 50 years.
The 1967 vintage bottling was produced using Touriga Nacional, Touriga Francesa, Tinto Cão, Tinta Roriz and Tinta Barroca grapes grown in the Douro Valley. The vintage year itself was marked by a drier winter and a wetter spring, but with a hot and dry summer season leading to harvest. The result was grapes rich in sugars and concentrated in flavour - perfect for Port.
Taylor's Single Harvest Port 1967 offers notes of rich dried apricots, freshly sanded oak, almonds, toffee, dried grapes, caramelised orange, guava, orange blossom, honeysuckle, tobacco leaf, a little green grape acidity, leather, dark chocolate, brown sugar and baked apples.
Decadent, rich but still fresh and assertive – this is a remarkable wine and a rare opportunity to taste a vintage from 50 years ago. Enjoy this with cheese, chocolate or gamey meats.
