Another stellar edition in Redbreast’s highly regarded small batch Cask Strength series.

This Irish single pot still whiskey has been triple distilled in copper pot stills, and matured in a mixture of American oak barrels that previously held Bourbon, and Spanish oak butts which had contained Oloroso Sherry.

The result is a terrific, boldly flavoured Irish whiskey, with notes of fresh strawberries, cherries and plums, before oranges, lemon rind, vanilla, raisins, and toasted nuts take hold. Some toasty oak, cinnamon, cream, caramelised malt, dark chocolate, figs and brown sugar also emerge with time.

Bottled at a cask strength of 58.1% ABV, this is a luscious and assertive whiskey.
