The 2012 vintage of Bruichladdich’s Port Charlotte Islay Barley.
This uber-provenance, super peaty single malt was distilled from Islay barley harvested from just eight farms. The barley was gathered in 2011, peated to a level of 40ppm and distilled in 2012
After distillation, the spirit was matured in combination of 75% first fill Bourbon barrels, and 25% second fill Wine Casks. In total, this dram has been aged for 6 years.
The final product is a dram that offers notes of sea spray, lemon zest, strong floral peat, earthy spice, vanilla, milk chocolate, a little red grape, cedarwood, almond, black pepper and light oak.
The whisky was reduced in strength with Islay water, and bottled at 50% ABV.
Yet another terrific dram from Bruichladdich’s Port Charlotte range.
