Another fantastic, super-peaty whisky from Bruichladdich’s Octomore range.
Distilled in 2014, from the 2013 harvest of Scottish barley, the spirit has been aged in “active ex-American” oak casks from Jim Beam, Heaven Hill and Jack Daniels. The whisky has been aged for 5 years in total, entirely on Islay.
As ever with Octomore, this dram is peaty. It clocks in at 139.6 PPM.
The final product is a whisky that serves up notes of smoky moss, earthy peat, clean malt, vanilla, oak, lemon, woodsmoke, sea spray, peaches, toffee, burning hay and ginger.
Bottled at a robust 59.4% ABV, this is a strong, and very smoky, single malt.
