An impressive, very well-matured Kirsch, or cherry brandy from the Nusbaumer Distillery in Alsace.

This spirit has been distilled from wild cherries, which are smaller and less sweet, with a thicker skin. The cherries are naturally fermented for five weeks, after which the seeds are removed and the fruit mixture is distilled in small copper pot stills.

After distillation, the spirit is aged for 17 years in oak casks, and reduced to 45% with mountain spring water.

The result is an eau-de-vie with notes of rich stewed cherries, almonds, marzipan, raspberry and strawberry jam, sour cherry preserve, old oak, slight leather, cinnamon, vanilla, and nutmeg.

A spectacular cherry spirit - as good as any on the market.
