Original bottlings of Mortlach have never been very common, but you may be familiar with through its appearance in the Flora & Fauna range. Luckily, Diageo decided to relaunch the distillery. Made from a mixture of bourbon and sherry casks, the Mortlach Rare Old is the “entry level” malt of this new range. While the distillery is known for their big, meaty, and heavily sherried whiskies, they can also produce something a little lighter and gentler, as evidenced by this bottling.
