This Mortlach is one of the very first whiskies to be released under the rebrand of Gordon and MacPhail’s famous Distiller Labels series.
Mortlach is known for having something of a thick and meaty spirit, and shining both when independently bottled and aged in sherry casks.
This whisky certainly demonstrates a sherry influence on the palate, with notes of fresh stone fruit, berries, winter spices, dried fruit, leather, grassy cereals, vanilla and pear.
Bottled at 43% ABV and without colouration, this is a wonderfully well crafted whisky.
A great return from this classic line.
