Mortlach, the Beast of Dufftown, often shines in indie cask bottlings, and this dram is no exception.
This whisky has been produced by Signatory Vintage for their Cask Strength Collection. The spirit was distilled in April 2007, and aged in refill Hogsheads, before being finished for 16 months in a Sherry Butt.
The end result is a juicy, fruity dram with a strong core of meaty Mortlach malt.
Expect notes of dried dark fruits (dates, raisins and prunes), orange rind, mint, vanilla, dark chocolate, intense cinnamon and pepper spice, charred oak, apple and tobacco.
Quite drying, with a long and powerful finish, this dram has been bottled at 52% ABV
