A rare treat from Greek distillers Metaxa.
For this bottling, they’ve taken a single cask of their famous Greek brandy, and left it for several decades. The standard Angels’ Treasure release is said to contain spirit up to 50 years old, so we can expect great things from this brandy.
During this long maturation, the spirit has developed astonishing depth and complexity, offering up notes of ripe plums, raisins, sultanas, nutmeg, toffee, chocolate, rancio, white grapes, flamed orange rind and thick, tannic oak.
Bottled at low cask strength of 42.2%, this is a really decadent and creamy dram. This brandy takes its name from the Angels’ Share phenomenon of cask evaporation. Pesky Angels!
