An excellent single vintage grappa from Marolo distillery.
Marolo place a great importance upon terroir, and as such their grappa begins with pomace from local wineries making Barolo with Nebbiolo grapes. This being a vintage grappa, the pomace has been gathered from one harvest (or Vendemmia) and distilled in one season. The 2007 Italian vintage was ranked a high A- grade by Wine Spectator, meaning that this grappa should be pretty delicious too!
The pomace is then meticulously distilled in small bain marie alembics, with the spirit produced in small batches. The grappa is then matured in little oak casks, and bears the title “extra aged”.
The final product is a rich and harmonious grappa, with notes of dried fruits, grapes, vanilla, jammy berries, green leafy flavours, peppery alcohol, toffee, and citrus fruit.
Marolo Grappa di Barolo Vendemmia 2007 is wonderfully presented in a decanter style bottling, complete with a wooden gift box.
