Created due the extraordinary demand for barrel strength whisky (and perhaps in answer to the outraged response when the distillery announced they were going to reduce their proof to 42% ABV – a decision they reversed). This is a small batch bottling that is rarely found outside of America, so European drinkers should take this chance to try a cracking bourbon! Maker’s Mark are known for distilling to the lowest proof of all the major bourbon distilleries, which often means a greater intensity of flavour, no more so than in this cask strength edition. Regular drinkers of the brand will not be disappointed, this bottling has all the wheaty, bready notes of the original, but with a richer mouthfeel and stronger flavour. As with all Maker’s bottlings, this whisky is presented dipped in red wax.
