Maker’s Mark is not known for its wide range, so this Cask Strength release caused some ripples when it first in the shelves in 2014.
Initially this bottling was to be sold to a few select bars and restaurants, but happily we’ve managed to pick up a few bottles.
Apparently this line is made with the same spirit that would eventually be bottled as the standard Maker’s Mark, just at a higher proof.
Though the design seems to make the bottle look a little smaller, the whisky inside packs more of a punch.
A complex and rich whisky, it serves up notes of clove, marzipan, dark berries, candied apple, peppery spice, spun sugar, cinnamon, leather, drying burnt oak, caramel, vanilla and honey.
Bottled at 55.45% ABV, this is a powerful, delicious dram.
