This single malt whisky from the Macallan distillery is called “Sienna”, named after its color. As with all whiskies in Macallan’s new 1824 range, this one is matured exclusively in sherry casks from Jerez, Spain.
Nose: Pungent sherry soaked prunes. Raisins with a little cinnamon, slight salted caramel, milk chocolate, toasted oak with heapings of vanilla cream. A little bit of espresso hiding at the back of nose.
Palate: A flood of berries: cherries, raspberries, strawberries and red currants. Vanilla cream, salted caramel, espresso all fill the palate. Very jam like with a really sweet breadlines tonight. Slight leathery with wood panelling.
Finish: Sweet and fleeting with plenty of spice and oak.
