Loch Lomand distillery is found just on the border of the Highland and Lowland regions, and is known for its versatility, being able to produce many different kinds of spirit at the same site.
This particular bottling is a 12 year old single malt whisky, which has been matured in a variety of cask types: former Bourbon American oak casks, refill casks and “recharged” casks.
The result is a straightforward, malty whisky, with an emphasis on orchard fruits, warm biscuits, sugar, vanilla and sweet oak.
The flavours get a boost from being bottled at the higher proof of 46% ABV.
A simple, yet delicious whisky.
