Another cracking single cask dram from Taiwanese distillery Kavalan.
This whisky has been matured in former wine American oak casks that have been specially re-charred to provide phenomenal depth of flavour. This dram was distilled on Christmas day, 2012, and bottled on the 7th of July 2017. As Taiwan is so hot and humid, spirit matures faster, meaning that even youthful drams like this bottling can serve up plenty of character.
This bottling serves up flavours of mango, citrus rind, vanilla, rich oak, dates, figs, red wine, apples, cinnamon, nutmeg, coconut, some malty sweetness and pastry.
Bottled at a cask strength of 55.6% ABV and without chill filtration or colouration, this is a rich, satisfying whisky.
Just 206 bottles were produced.
