Another top notch dram from Taiwanese distillery Kavalan’s Solist range of single cask whiskies.
This time round, the spirit has been aged in a single Port cask since the 29th of September 2010, with the whisky bottled on the 14th of December 2017, giving a final age of just over seven years. Of course, with the heat and climate of Taiwan, spirit tends to mature a little faster.
The Port cask has imbued this dram with delightful notes of sweet fruits and dessert wine. Drinkers can expect flavours of toffee, dark malt, old oak, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, orange rind, sweet red (strawberries and cherries especially), red grapes, espresso, some stewed plums and dark chocolate.
Spicy and hot at a cask strength 57.8% ABV, the spirit is also non chill filtered and natural in colour.
Just 199 bottles of this whisky were produced.
