Once again, Taiwanese distillery Kavalan have produced a remarkably delicious single cask whisky for their Solist range.
This dram was aged in a former Bourbon barrel for a little under 7 years, having been distilled in December 2010, and bottled in September 2017. In the warmth of Taiwan’s subtropical climate, spirit matures faster, meaning this single malt is more mature than its age might suggest.
This Kavalan single cask offers notes of ripe apples and pears, peaches in syrup, vanilla, toffee, baked walnut and pecan, coconut, toasted oak, nutmeg and subtle liquorice.
Bottled at 58.6% and without chill filtration or colouration, this is a seriously rich and satisfying expression.
